Stefan Scharnweber holds the 5th Dan in Shotokan Karate. He began his martial arts career in 1983 and won numerous tournaments at national and international levels. At times he was the state kata coach of Schleswig-Holstein.

In 1999 he ended his competitive career to devote himself to other aspects of martial arts. He is guided by the teachings of the Japanese grand masters Taiji Kase and Hiroshi Shirai, with whom he also took his 4th and 5th Dan exams. In addition, Stefan has a wide range of interests and learns from masters and companions of very different fighting styles from all over the world.
Stefan's karate is not limited to simple "Kihon-up-and-down", but integrates elements from other arts; and of course his very own specialties, which push even some of the most experienced martial artists to their limits.
